Fully skilled mechanical engineer recruited from Poland

"Round the clock mechanical services" company Bootham Engineers, part of Dowding & Mills Engineering Services, provides specialist machining throughout its network of repair centres. This is provided by a highly skilled and experienced workforce with well equipped workshops. When the Bristol branch required a highly skilled machinist to join the team it was difficult to find someone with the right skills locally.

PeakStaff, Bristol’s Eastern European recruitment specialist, was able to help Bootham to recruit a fully skilled mechanical engineer directly from Poland.

PeakStaff introduced Adam, a 29 year old engineer living near Krakow. Adam had attended a technical college in Poland to study mechanical and electrical engineering. His many years of work experience included the operation of various machines including centre lathes, milling machines, and horizontal boring machines. It was quickly established that Adam had exactly the skills required by Bootham.

Adam was keen to broaden his experience by working in the UK. PeakStaff's Polish speaking consultants were able to help him make the move within 3 weeks of receiving the offer of employment.

Adam's case was a little unusual as an ITV reporter flew out to Poland to meet him and accompany him on his flight to Bristol! Adam and PeakStaff were participating in an ITV West Tonight feature about the Polish community living in Bristol.

As part of recruitment service, PeakStaff met Adam at the airport and took him to the arranged accommodation near his workplace. Adam received lots of information about living in Bristol to help him settle in as quickly as possible. A Polish speaking consultant attended Adam’s initial induction training to ensure everything was understood clearly.
